V-R1.U.05 Set of subs with safety device

A set of subs with a safety device is designed to prevent their spontaneous unscrewing from the VE-R1 or VB-R1 swivel during its operation. The device securely maintain the subs when the swivel rotates.

The set structure

The set consist of upper and lower V-band with hardened metal toothed hubs (Fig. 2 position A and C), Top Sub with a BOX thread DP to PIN thread NC-31 API 7 (Fig. 2 position B). The toothed hubs are secured in the clamps using a dovetail joint to prevent them from falling out and are fixed with a bolt to prevent displacement in the longitudinal direction. The clamps are designed to allow movement and provide a difference in the outer diameters of the crimped part of 2 mm. The clamping bolts have a hexagonal head with width across flats.

The sub (Fig. 2 position B) is permanently screwed to the stem, and the Kelly stem can be quickly unscrewed and replaced when the thread wears out. Thus, the service life of the stem increases many times over, since it does not require constant screwing and unscrewing along the DP thread.
